About the Scoff Stopper®
The Scoff Stopper® is a unique bowl that was created out of necessity to prevent dogs eating too fast. This can be for many reasons, whether its a guts and just loves food, sucks in air when it eats or if it's competing to get another dogs meal. All dogs should eat at a slow pace so they receive the full nutritional value of their meal. Even if your dog does not eat fast, eating out of the Scoff Stopper® will be of great benefit to the health of your dog.

GDV Bloat
Eating slow is beneficial to the health of your dog. Many dogs suffer what is known as Bloat (gastric dilation - volvulus or GDV). This is a horrible condition that generally effects large deep chested dogs. An owner only has limited time to get their dog to a vet for life saving surgery that is generally very expensive. For more information about GDV Bloat, please visit our
links page and read the
testimonial from Veterinary Surgeon, Dr Stephen Cutter.
Slowing your dog down
The Scoff Stopper® works extremely well to cut down aggression between dogs at feed times. If one dog eats faster and attempts to take the other dogs food, the dominant dog eating out of the Scoff Stopper® takes its time eating to allow the slower dog to finish its meal.
The following tips may assist you with the use of your Scoff Stopper®
- Never exercise your dog after it's eaten.
- Always allow your dog to rest for at least 1 hour after exercise prior to eating.
- If time permits, try and feed your dog a smaller meal twice a day instead of one large meal at night.
- Leave the bowl on the ground, don't raise it, this could increase the likelihood of Bloat.
- Don't permit rapid drinking, especially after exercise or on hot days.
- You can use the Scoff Stopper® as a water bowl.
